The concept of a Higher Power has been used by people in Recovery for a very long time. The term Higher Power has been misunderstood by so many people too. It means something different to so many. In fact, even when referred to in the 12 Steps, we added “as we understood Him”.  So, can he be different to everyone? Does God change? Are there different Gods? different High Powers?

In world that so freely attacks God, and so freely discounts His importance will the concept of drawing on God for a Spiritual Foundation become less important to those in Recovery.
